Azam FC: Nicholas Wadada Set To Miss Rest Of Season

Defender Nicholas Wakiro Wadada is set to miss the rest of the 2019/20 league season with Azam FC, Daily News has reported.

Wadada is one of the seven foreign players who are currently outside Tanzania due to lockdown in their respective countries.

“We are unable to facilitate the travel logistics for our players who are in Ghana, Uganda and Zimbabwe due to lockdowns imposed by these countries as such, international air transport are still prohibited,” Azam FC information officer Thabit Zakaria told Daily News.

“This means that if the top flight league restarts soon, we will not have them on board hence we will have to use the available players.”

The club’s Head Coach Aristica Cioaba is also out of the country – Romania.

The other players missing are Ghanaian trio Razack Abalora, Daniel Amoa and Yacub Mohamed and three players from Zimbabwe – Never Tigere, Bruce Kangwa, and Donald Ngoma.

These will be greatly missed by a club that is trailing leaders Simba SC by 17 points.

Reports in Tanzania have confirmed that the top flight league will resume next month.

In January, Wadada who joined Azam from Vipers in 2018, renewed his contact – that was due to end in July 2021 – by one year until 2022.
