Jimmy Kirunda: Death Partly Blamed On Police

Uganda Police has been partly blamed by the public for the death of Uganda Cranes Legend Jimmy Kirunda.

The former national team captain met his death on Monday when he collapsed while having a routine walk at Bwaise.

Onlookers blamed the late arrival of Police on the scene at Bwaise.

“It was at 11:30am in the morning when he fell on the ground, we were here standing and saw him,” said a bystander in an interview with Top TV. “We put stones and barricades on the road so as we can have a car rush him to the hospital but when the traffic police arrived, they chased us away and threw away everything we had put on the road – all cars including an ambulance that would have helped him, just drove by.”

The other eye witness interviewed by Top TV, claimed: “Police arrived here very late, like they always do. They only rush to arrest Bobi Wine. That man would have been saved.”

In similar developments, Uganda’s Parliament observed a moment of silence for the former KCC, SC Villa and Express FC player.

The deceased will be laid to rest on Wednesday at his ancestral home in Mayire – Bulesa (Kyadondo) at 2pm.
