Masaza Cup: Gomba’s Experienced Goalkeeper Renews Contact

Gomba county team goalkeeper Nasif Kabuye has renewed contract ahead of the coming Masaza Cup tournament.

Kabuye plays for Kampala Junior Team (KJT), a side he joined when he was still under the age of seven.

The shot stopper has also played for Busujju. He has been at Gomba since 2017.

“I am very excited to join Gomba,” Kabuge said. “I am ready to help my team win a fifth title, I promise the fans and management that as a team, we will bring honour home.”

Henry Bishop Oryom and Isaac Ogwanga are the other players who have also renewed contracts.

Kabuye becomes the second goalkeeper to join Gomba team in this window after Derrick Emmanuel Were.

Coach Ibrahim Kirya has also signed Hussein Ssenoga, Bashir Lubinga, Richard Basangwa, Ibrahim Kasinde and Ponsiano Ssegonya.

The team will be looking for its first title since 2017. They have also triumphed in 2004, 2009 and 2014.


However, it remains to be known whether the Masaza Cup will go on this year due to Covid19 pandemic.

• 2018/19 – Unbeaten run, best goalkeeper (with KJT in Kampala Regional League)
• 2019/20 – Runners up, 11games (with 8 clean sheets – KJT, Kampala Regional League)
