The upcoming 2020/21 FUFA Big League will kickoff on a tentative date of October 29, FUFA revealed during a meeting with club chairpersons on Friday at Mengo.

This will be about two weeks after the top division (UPL) has kicked off.

The FUFA Big League is the second tier of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations.

The league was founded in 2009 and comprises of two divisions – the Elgon Group and the Rwenzori Group.

The three best teams in the Big League earn promotion to UPL; the top team in each division earn automatic promotion while the second and third in each division fight for a remaining spot during playoffs.

Proline FC, Maroons and Tooro United were relegated from the top division and are eligible to play in Big League next season.

Six teams, three each per division, were relegated from the big league last season – Kansai Plascon, New Villa, Dove FC, Saviours, Light SS and Katwe United will play in region as it stands.

Still about last season, MYDA FC and UPDF were automatically promoted from Big League to UPL, but a consequent petition by Ndejje has put UPDF’s place in doubt.
