You Will Be Paid – Minister Obua To Cranes Players

State Minister for Sports Hon Hamson Obua has assured Uganda Cranes players that they will be paid their pledge.

This follows a recent campaign from the players who took to social media and reminded President Museveni of the pledge he had made.

The President promised Uganda Cranes players $1M after the side reached AFCON round of 16 in Egypt last year.

Obua, who replaced long serving Charles Bakkabukindi in December 2019, called for calmness from Cranes players.

“I call upon my brothers, from captain Denis Onyango and all the senior players of our National team that you should remain patient,” Obua told NTV.

“We are following up, be optimistic that this particular pledge will be paid.”

The Cranes reached AFCON knockout for the first time since 1978, when they qualified from group A as runners up behind hosts Egypt.

The side however lost 1-0 to Senegal thanks to Sadio Mane’s strike who also had his penalty kept out by Captain Onyango.
