Midfielder Allan Kateregga is not contented with State Minister for Sports Hon Hamson Obua’s recent assurance about Museveni’s pledge to the Uganda Cranes.
Obua, on Tuesday told the players via NTV that they should be patient because “we are following up, be optimistic that this particular pledge will be paid.”
In response, Kateregga tweeted:
“He didn’t care to say anything until now! Why should we believe anything he has to say?! They will take pride in seeing us suffer long after our careers and all they will ever say is we misused the money, which money we never recieved!”

The Cranes players have continued with their social media campaign to remind President Museveni of the pledge he made after the team reached 2019 AFCON knockout.
The President promised Uganda Cranes players $1M after the side reached AFCON round of 16 in Egypt last year.
The side qualified to the knockout for the first time since 1978, before losing 1-0 to Senegal thanks to Sadio Mane’s strike who also had his penalty kept out by Captain Onyango.
