Understanding The Twist In Galiwango’s Move To Vipers

Express FC Chief Executive Isaac Mwesigwa has stated that the club has a written agreement with Dissan Galiwango who was unveiled by Vipers today.

The Kitende based side unveiled Express FC captain on a four-year deal but Express chairman Kiryowa Kiwanuka has threatened a legal action over the move.

Speaking on Urban TV today, Mwesigwa commented:

“We have a written agreement with the player and all responsible parties are aware.

“His move is the case of a player dishonouring his agreement.”

Mwesigwa stated that Galiwango has been poorly advised by people around him who have also pushed the deal to go through.

“Galiwango is an exceptional player but he needs to have the right handlers. He is an amazing person because I have had a chance to have a one-on-one with him and when you speak with him, you can tell that he would prefer going out via the right channels.

“We are willing to let the player go if the other party comes on board and we see the way forward. We want to follow the right procedures.”

Sources have it that Galiwango’s contract was running down towards the end of last season and the Red Eagles tried to convince him to stay.

The player was reportedly given Sh15M by Club chairman Kiwanuka and an agreement was reached, however, the player never signed an official club contract despite bagging the sh15m.

Such, were some of the issues that saw Galiwango’s deal to KCCA FC hit a dead end.

When contacted, Galiwango’s agent Ronnie Santos Mwine who was at the heart of the deal, said that Galiwango is not contracted with the Express FC.

“The truth is that Galiwango is not contracted with the club because his two year contract had expired,” Agent Santos said. “What they (Express) are talking about is a private arrangement which chairman Kiwanuka and Galiwango will sort out themselves.”

Football governing body in the country, FUFA, has said that they have not received a confirmation of the deal.

“There is no case yet,” said FUFA Deputy CEO Decolas Kiiza. “But we received a communication from Express saying that Galiwango is still their player, however, we cannot disseminate any more information about that. We cannot know the truth until Vipers puts in a request in the Transfer Matching System which they have not done yet.”
