Bestine Kazadi Ditabala has become the first ever woman to be elected as the President of DR Congo’s Association Sportive (AS) Vita Club.
Kazadi, born 1963 in Belgium, is a renown Congolese Lawyer.
She collected 38 of 72 votes to beat Diomi Ndongala during the club’s Annual General Meeting held in Kinshasa on July 1.
She takes over from Gabriel Amisi Kumba.
Kazadi is a special advisor to DRC president Felix Tshikedi. She is a daughter of late Pierre Kazadi Tshishishi who is a former chairman of Vita Club’s Supreme Council.
She will be hoping to revive the glory of AS Vita, the second most successful club in DR Congo.
AS Vita beat Asante Kotoko (Ghana) in 1973 to win the CAF Champions League.
The side has won 14 league titles and 9 domestic cups.
