From KKL to KCCA: Mike Mutyaba’s Career In Photos

Mike ‘Suleiman’ Mutyaba was born on March 23, 1991 to the late Robert Sserunjogi and Josephine Nakazzi in Kirumba Masaka.

He arrived in Kampala thanks to Kampala Kids League, played for various clubs, retired and came back, and retired again this year.

Mike Mutyaba’s football journey started with Kampala Kids League
With KKL, he managed to feature in Tivoli and Gothia Cups in Scandinavian countries – Sweden, Denmark and Norway

In 2008, he started playing for Bunamwaya (now Vipers) while a Student at St Mary’s SS Kitende. His deal to join Yeovil Town and Fulham had hit a dead end. Observer photo
On June 28, 2010 – Mutyaba scored the only goal of the game as Bunamwaya beat Police to win the Uganda Premier League trophy of the 2009/2010 season with a game to spare. Courtesy photo
On July 10 2010 – Mutyaba and Bunamwaya crowned champions despite a 3-1 loss to URA on the last day of the season
While in camp with Uganda U23 Kobs, Mutyaba converted to Islam thanks to influence from Habib Kavuma. Observer
On October 2011: Mutyaba was part of Uganda Cranes team that drew 0-0 with Kenya at Namboole, missingvout on 2012 AFCON finals. He came on in the 66th minute to replace Mike Sserumaga. Courtesy
Mutyaba sealed a move to Sudan’s El Merriekh in 2011 December.
In January 2013, Mutyaba makes a transfer to DR Congo’s TP Mazembe
In 2014: Mutyaba’s second return to Vipers (former Bunamwaya)
2014/15: Mutyaba transfers to Express FC
In 2015/16 – Third return for Mutyaba at Vipers, and part of the team that beat Onduparaka at Nakivubo in the Uganda Cup final in June 2016. FUFA Photo
2016 – Second return to Express, and later retires after an injury in a game against Sadolin Paints. He handed over the armband to Saddam Juma
November 2017 – Mutyaba makes a return, this time in Futsal Super League
May 3 2018 – he is named Futsal Super League top scorer with 50 goals, helping his team Dream FC win the league. Jamil Kalisa was the MVP.
June 2018 – Mike Mutyaba seals a move to KCCA, making a return to mainstream football

On May 4 2019 – He guides KCCA FC to league title for the 2018/19 season

In October 2019, he bags a hat-trick as KCCA beat Onduparaka FC 4-0
In December 2019 – His performance earns him a place to the 2018/19 team of the season at Airtel FUFA Awards
In March 2020, he withdrew from Cranes CHAN team.
And on medical checkup, doctors advised him to end his football career due to a heart problem.
