Ssimbwa Remains Cautious Over ‘Cunning’ Magogo Despite FUFA-Ex Players Meet

Outspoken coach Sam Ssimbwa has remained wary of FUFA boss Moses Magogo despite meeting with Ex Internationals.

FUFA and Ex players held talks in a consultative meeting held at Ivy’s Hotel Wakaliga on Friday.

In his remarks, Magogo asked the Ex Internationals to form their association and vowed that the Federation will support it.

He also urged them not to attack the Federation as it was the case in recent past and encouraged them to hold more meetings.

“If there is honesty in what the President has said, this is a good move,” Ssimbwa said. “But if is the other way round, we gave wasted our time.”

“Magogo is very intelligent, he is cunning and can sweet talk a bad cause.”

The Federation has been criticized for under looking and not taking care of ex players and consequently, many have come out to plead for financial help.

The meeting was held to bring the Ex Internationals together and to forge a way forward.

Ssimbwa hailed the move and called it a first step for the Ex Players to move closer to the Federation

“It has been long over due,” Ssimbwa added. “We have started a good journey, we are lacking so many things because most of us concentrated on playing football only. If we as to progress, we need to organise our association first because we are no longer in the books of FUFA, we shall progress if FUFA gives us a hand.”

Ssimbwa played for Uganda Cranes in 1989 to 1993, according to some records on the Internet. He was the assistant coach of Uganda Cranes in 2005.

He played for KCCA, Mbale Heroes and Cosmos.

He has coached over 15 teams including Top TVx Atraco, Express, Simba, KCC, Masaka LC, Victoria University, Sofapaka, Somalia (National Team).
