Mutanda Leaves Villa, Sets Sights On Deals Abroad

Striker Bashir Mutanda has departed SC Villa in search for greener pastures.

The players contract is expiring this August and has already picked his release letter.

Negotiations with the club to renew for at least another season after have all stalled.

“We met (with Villa officials) but we didn’t agree on some issues, and I am looking forward for another playing job opportunity,” Mutanda has told this website.

The striker is linked to a club in Europe plus a move to North Africa. He has also been approached by three Uganda Premier League clubs.

A source close to the player has also hinted that Mutanda is still in touch with Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy.

After the 2018/19 season, Mutanda was on the verge of joining Jwaneng Galaxy but the deal hit a dead end after Villa demanded ‘much money.’

In the 2018/19 season, the striker was the club’s leading scorer with 13 goals.

He scored only two goals last season with his playing time limited due to injuries.

Mutanda, powerful and a fox-in-the-box, broke out from the Vipers Junior team in 2015 and has also played for Buikwe Red Stars and Kirinya Jinja SS (now Busoga United).
