Farouk Miya scored a double as struggling Konyaspor stunned table leaders Instabul Basaksehir in a 4-3 thrilling victory in the Turkish Premier League.
Miya equalised when he made an explosive run into the area to pounce home a lofty cross from the left flank by Alper Uludag in the 20th minute.
With the score 2-1, Miya extended the hosts’ cushion with his second goal (third for Konyaspor) at the stroke of halftime.
His strike was a thing of beauty – He controlled a poorly deflected pass before sending a ferocious rocket after a beautiful turn that left his marker puzzled in disbelief.
Instabul scored the first goal through Edin Visca and later chased down the game with goals from Demba Ba and Elia Eljero but Nejc Skubic grabbed a later winner for Konyaspor.
It’s a disappointing result for table leaders Instabul, a star studded team with Demba Ba, Gael Clichy, Martin Skrtel, Robinho and Gokan Inler among others.
Instabul remain on top with 66 points, ahead of Trabzonspor, Sivasspor, Besiktas and Galatasary in that order.
The victory, sends Konyaspor to 33 points from 32 games and will travel to Trabzonspor on July 18, 2020.
Miya has now scored eight league goals from 24 games for Konyaspor. His last goal was a late penalty against Rizespor to win 1-0 at Konya Metropolitan Stadium when he came off the bench.
The lethal goal poacher who won the league with Vipers in 2014/15 season, has also played for Gorica, Standard Liege, Mouscron among others.
