Express FC club legend and trainer Hassan Mubiru has revealed that he cannot wait to sharpen the finishing of the club’s strikers ahead of the 2020/21 season.
Mubiru, an Icon at Wankulukuku, is the last Express player to win the Uganda Premier League golden boot.
Notably, he won the boot three years in a row – starting with 27 goals in 2001, added 22 and 16 goals in order of the subsequent seasons.
“It’s so unfortunate Covid19 has interfered with our plans but not to worry,” Mubiru, working with coaches Wasswa Bbosa and Sam Kawalya, is quoted by the club website.
“I cannot wait to mentor the squad especially the forwards when the time is right.
“We need as many goals next season and I believe we have the right players to do the job.”
Last season, Express FC forged a strong attacking trio of Frank Kalanda, Frank Ssenyondo and Dissan Galiwango who scored 11, 7 and 6 goals respectively before the season was ended.
The club has reportedly added Charles Musiige, Mahad Kakooza, Abel Eturude and Godfrey Lwesibawa as they seek to win their first league title since 2011/12 season.
The Red Eagles, who lost captain Galiwango to Vipers, also axed 18 players but are still linked to Faisal Ssekyanzi, Steven Luswata and Saddam Juma among others.
