Why Mustafa Kizza Chose Montreal Over Deal In Spain

Mustafa Kizza’s agent Fahd Adamson Mansoor has revealed why the Uganda Cranes defender opted to sign for Montreal Impact over a deal in Spain.

Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact confirmed the signing of the roving left back for two years in a deal that will start on August 12.

Kizza will remain at KCCA FC until December due to Covid19 pandemic but the club can fetch him anytime when the conditions allow.

Earlier, Kizza had trials in Spain with Real Valladolid but the deal later hit a dead end.

“The Spanish deal would have been a good option but they wanted him to play in Under 21 and 23 instead of first team football – So we had to go with Montreal Impact who placed better offers on tables,” Fahd told Sanyuka TV.

“Kizza is not staying at Montreal Impact for so long, his goal is to target one of the five big leagues in Europe. Montreal Impact is a platform for him to reach another bigger level.

“He is happy about the choice he made and cannot wait to play in Major League Soccer and I believe that we made the right choice.”

Fahd revealed that they got many offers from South Africa, Portugal, Morocco and many others but the defender opted for MLS.

He added: “MLS is not a step too high or too low, and it has become a good league because they started recruiting young players. Kizza has the potential to become one of the best players in his position if he continues to put in hard work.”

The agent also explained that he had come to Uganda to scout Allan Okello (former Kizza teammate) after many recommendations when he was wooed by Kizza instead during a CAF Champions League game between KCCA and Egypt’s Al Ahly.

“It was Kizza who stood out to me. He was amazing that day. He made quality crosses, and you could see the Egyptian defense panicking every time he got the ball. His performance was promising.”
