Joel Mutakubwa Breaks Silence On ‘Dream’ Vipers Move

Joel Mutakubwa hopes to play for Vipers next season, with the Kyetume goalkeeper describing the potential move to Kitende as a “dream.”

Mutakubwa has been linked to Vipers in the ongoing window and the shot stopper says that he is a big fan of the Venoms.

Besides Vipers, Mutakubwa has reportedly been approached by Express and Zanaco in Zambia

“It would be every player’s dream come true to feature for their favorite club” Mutakubwa disclosed to The-SportsNation about a move to Vipers.

“However, until the deal is done, I won’t say more about that.”

With a year still remaining on his contract, it is said that Kyetume FC is willing to enter negotiations with the any club willing to take the goalie.

Reports close to the club have however suggested that Vipers lead the pack with the player set to sign a three-year contract after uncertainties with first choice goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora.

Mutakubwa made 11 clean sheets last season and was part of the Uganda Cranes squad that won the 2019 CECAFA championship on home soil.

“General I would say I didn’t meet my expectations last season because I had set my goals but unfortunately they weren’t met,” he adds.

“However, I was very happy to be summoned on the National team because I always wished to feature for my country.

“I just wish to improve on my previous performance and to be recalled to the national team and compete.”

It remains to be seen whether Mutakubwa will be a Venom when the Uganda Premier League season gets underway, probably on October 17th 2020.
