Tanzania: Nicholas Wadada Shortlisted For Season’s Best Player

Uganda Cranes right back Nicholas Wadada is among the 30 players listed to vie for the 2019/20 Tanzania Vodacom Premier League player of the season.

This initial list of 30 players will be trimmed to 10 then to final three before crowning the eventual winner in a glamorous event at Mlimani City Hall on August 7, 2020.

Wadada has had a stellar season with Azam FC; scoring one goal and eight assists in the league as the side came short in third place with 70 points – Simba (88 points) took the title ahead of Young Africans ((72).

Wadada signed a one-year contract in January that will keep him at Azam FC until July 2022.

He will obviously face stiff competition from Ugandan born Rwanda international Meddie Kagere who scored 22 goals to help Simba win the title.

Zambia’s Clatous Chuma, named Simba’s player of the season, scored two goals and 10 assists, is also a strong contender for the gong. Simba also has Shomari Kapombe, Aishi Manula, Francis Kahata, John Bocco, Jonas Mkude and Luis Miquissone nominated.

Wadada’s Azam FC teammates Idd Nado and Obrey Chirwa have been shortlisted as well.
