New KCCA FC striker Brian Aheebwa has explained why leaving Mbarara was a hard decision for him.
Aheebwa was unveiled on Sunday by his new side after signing a three-year contract at Lugogo.
“Me joining kcca has really been amazing,” said Aheebwa who scored eight league goals for the Ankole Lions in the league last season.
“Leaving Mbarara City has been a hard decision for me because it has been home and it takes courage for a child to move away from his mother to go and start a new life. Mbarara is where I grew up, its where I studied from.
“However, I had to take up this big step in my career. I’m very excited to join KCCA, it is a club that has top players and staff and I was happy when coach Mike (Mutebi) called me. It motivated me, it gave me hope that I can play football at a higher level.”
Aheebwa set his target at winning the top scorer gong and adding value to the team next season.
He also expressed his readiness for competition next season: “I want to achieve many goals, I know it’s going to be tough competition but I know that the higher you go the hotter it becomes, so I will cope up because we have good players and this will help improve my game as well.”
Aheebwa is the sixth signing for KCCA who have already unveiled Italian Stefano Mazengo Loro, Charles Lwanga, Ashraf Mugume, Bright Anukani and Denis Iguma.
The 13-time league champions remain linked to Isma Mugulusi and have also reportedly signed Pius Obuya and Andrew Kigozi.
