Rwanda: FERWAFA Sets Dates For 2020/21 Season

Football governing body in Rwanda, Ferwafa, has released the calendar for 2020-2021 season.

The calendar has been adjusted to accommodate the postponed competitions from the previous seasons like the Second Division Men’s League play-offs (October 2-17, 2020), the first and second division women leagues (October 3 to December 20, 2020).

Notably, the Federation has set October 30 as tentative dates for 2020/21 Rwanda Premier League season. The league will climax on May 20, 2021.

APR were crowned league champions in May when Ferwafa ended football competitions “after thorough consideration on the unprecedented situation caused by Covid19 pandemic.”

The Federation consequently awarded APR the 2019/20 the league title for a record-extending 18th time.

Ferwafa, in a statement on their website, has said that the 1st Player Registration Period for the top league start on August 16th to October 24th 2020 while the 2nd Player Registration Period will be between 18th January 2021 and end on February 5th 2021.

Other Notable Dates – Tentative:

  • The Second Division Men’s League season: October 31, 2020 to climax on May 29, 2020.
  • The Heroes Cup: January 19 to February 1, 2021
  • Peace Cup: February 4-5, 2020 to June 5, 2021.
  • Women’s first division: February 19, 2021 to July 31, 2021
  • Women’s second division: February 20, 2021 to July 24, 2021.
