Simba SC dominated the best XI of the season as the 2019/20 Tanzania Vodacom Premier League awards were held on Friday night at Mlimani City Conference centre.

The dominance was inevitable after the side clinched the league title with 88 points, 16 above Young Africans.

The Msimbazi had six players on the team including MVP Clautos Chama and league top scorer Meddie Kagere.

Aishi Manula was named in goal after keeping 18 cleansheets, beating Daniel Mgore of Biashara United FC who had 17 cleansheets and Namungo FC’s Nourdine Balora who also had a decent season as well.

Chama bosses the midfield after he racked up 10 assists and two goals in 30 games which speaks volumes about how good the Zambian has been this season.

Former Azam’s John Bocco, now at Simba, was a phenomena and the same can be said of Mozambican Luis Misquisson and Serge Wawa.

Kagere led the chats with 22 goals and seven assists and it was inevitable for the Ugandan born Rwanda international to make it to the best XI.

Uganda’s Nicholas Wadada was named in the best XI after his impressive season with Azam FC.

The Uganda Cranes right back – was crowned the best defender but lost the player of the season gong – contributed one goal and eight assists.

Defender David Luhende who played every minute for Kagera Sugar made it on the team as well.
