Uganda Cranes right back Nicholas Wakiro Wadada has hailed his Azam FC teammates after being named best defender of the Vodacom Premier League for the 2019/20 season.
The former Vipers right back has also sent out strong advise to Uganda footballers who wish to ply their trade outside the borders.
“First of all I thank the Almighty who enabled me emerge the winner on the night not forgetting my family as well as our Azam FC fans,” Wadada told this website.
“Its not easy winning such a gong away from my motherland but God enabled me achieve this.
“My coaches, fans and teammates as well played a vital role because I could not achieve this alone and I’m very thankful to all of them.”
The right back who assisted eight times and scored once in the concluded season, has also sent out advise to Ugandans who would love see themselves prosper outside.
“Discipline is key in whatever you should do, Ugandans should respect others and be hard workers no matter the hardships.”
Wadada beat Kagera Sugar’s David Luhende and Yanga’ Bakari Mwamnyeto who played for Coastal Union last season, to clinch the award.
However, the former Vipers player lost out to Simba’s Clautos Chama to the player of the season.
