Bright Stars FC Finally Announce New Coach

Uganda Premier League side Bright Stars FC have finally appointed Baker Mbowa as their new coach ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Mbowa joins Bright Stars on a three-year deal and replaces Paul Kiwanuka who joined Vipers coaching staff to deputise Fred Kajoba.

Mbowa beat other four final candidates to the job – He was one of the coaches that made the club board for interviews on Tuesday at Lugogo house.

The other coaches include Kefa Kisala who has crossed over to UPDF FC, Joseph Kiwanuka, Hussein Mbalangu and Sadicki Ssempigi.

After finishing 12th with 29 points last season, Mbowa will be hoping to lift his new club to greater heights next season.

Bright Stars have not confirmed any new signings but Derrick Ngoobi and Suleiman Ssebunza have renewed their contracts.

The club is expected to lose captain Bernard Muwanga, Enock Walusimbi, Aggrey Kirya and Jungu Methodius among others.

Mbowa will be hoping to build a strong team to compete favourably next season but he will bank on the administration in this ongoing transfer window.

He comes with experience after winning the league with KCC as a player in 1997 and has coached Kabula and Mawokota and Masaza. His recent coaching job was at Proline FC.
