Forming The Best XI From Vipers Released Players

Vipers have released 13 players as they clear out space for their new signings ahead of the 2020/21 season.

We have taken a time to see how best we can forge a perfect team for our fans.

From the 13 players, we picked the starting eleven without unproven Baden Mujahid and Fred Atuherwa who will be starting from the bench.

Perfect enough, we have a goalkeeper in the ranks but notably, we have last season’s top scorer. Bring on anyone.

Here is the team;

We will be using a 4-4-2 – a diamond formation to be specific – as we seek to create balance on all fronts.

Derrick Ochan is of course unopposed in the sticks while Dan Birikwalira and Ibrahim Kiyemba will be the fullbacks.

Farouk Musisi who is a genuine left back has been called into the middle to partner with Tom Masiko in the heart of defence. As you have already sensed, this is where our weakness is. But good enough we are aware of that.

Solution to the weak link? We have employed Brian Nkuubi, who has been handed the captain’s armband to act as a curtain (Makelele role) and we will rely on his extra protection to provide cover for our makeshift centre backs.

What Nkuubi does for his two centre backs, is what Steven Mukwala will do for our two attackers going forward. He will link up the midfield to the forward line while enjoying the free role. Get in there Desse.

Duncan Sseninde and Joseph Janjali will be the main pillars for this team and they will be required to be workaholic if we are to beat anyone and the two will have to cover a whole lot of ground from the word go.

It is a narrow but compact midfield that lacks depth but no team will exploit the spaces out wide with the availability of the fullbacks – Birikwalira and Kiyemba who will attack and defend in equal measures.

Tito Okello will be the main target man because of his lanky built and we will be expecting lofty deliveries from both Birikwalira and Kiyemba every time they explode forward, and Tito can bank on his height to beat any defender in the air.

Then Dickens Okwir will have to get markers off Tito with the help of Mukwala at times, press the opponents defenders, fall back and a little bit of everything.

Our goal here is to defend high up the pitch but we will have to switch between other formations where need be.

We can switch to a 3-4-3 with Birikwalira, Musisi and Kiyemba used as centre backs, Masiko pushes further the pitch into the middle to join Sseninde, as Nkuubi (who can switch with Sseninde) and Janjali take on the opposite ends to play as wingbacks. Dickens and Mukwala supply Tito on the money.

Come on You…
