Up-close with New Express Signing Mustafa Kiragga

New Express FC signing Mustafa Kiragga feels “so excited” and “can’t wait to start at my new home.”

Kiragga joined Express FC – the first striker unveiled in the ongoing window by the Red Eagles – after a stint in South Africa.

He left Uganda in 2018 having played for defunct clubs like Lweza, SC Victoria University and KB Lions.

“Two years back, my agent Nolan Adenle got me an offer at Alexandra, so I had to move for greener pastures,” he remembers.

He is a former student of Bweya Muslim, Mothercare, and Bahati High School. He adds: “I am born in an established Muslim extended family and studied both religious education and formal education.”

“I started playing football since childhood. We used to play on streets with fellow kids.”

At Lweza, he played in the team that had the likes of Geoffrey Sserunkuma and Nestroy Kizito among other stars.

He comments that he shares aerial duel prowess like that of Sserunkuma.

On why he joined Express despite other bids, he reveals: “Express FC is a big brand and not forgetting the amazing supporters.

“I had more than two offers here and more than one outside but won’t mention them cause I’m happily a Red Eagle now.”

“I’m looking forward to achieving 1st team football then plenty of goals and assists to help the team claim more trophies.”

On life in South Africa, Kiragga says: “It’s been having ups and downs but it’s all part of the journey. Living in a foreign land is a milestone and a huddle that one has to overcome by all means.

“It takes only the brave hearted ones to stay focused amidst many challenges but I managed to play in different competitions, got accolades mainly for top scoring. I didn’t find my way into the top tier due to some uncertainties but people always complimented on how good my craft is which fueled and kept me going and now I’m here to make things happen inshaa Allah.”
