Henry Mayeku: URA FC Names New CEO

Uganda Premier League outfits URA FC have appointed Henry Mayeku as the new Chief Executive Officer.

This follows a series of interviews conducted to appoint the right personnel since the departure of Ivan Kakembo whose contract was not renewed after expiring on November 30 last year.

Sources close to the club have said that final interviews were conducted on Monday with four final candidates in attendance.

Bridget Nakayenga who was the Acting CEO since January 2020, made the top ten but has reportedly missed out on the lucrative contract.

Mayeku comes with vast experience having served the club in 2016 as a General Secretary.

He has also worked with World Vision Uganda from August 2018.

Mayeku will seek to help the club attain efficiency and effectiveness in the key pillars of Governance, Business and Sporting in line with FUFA’s club Pro Agenda.

He shall be the head of secretariat and work under the direction and guidance of the URA FC board to implement plans, strategies and decision board.

Under coach Sam Ssimbwa who fell out with former CEO Kakembo, URA FC were fifth with 40 points behind Vipers, KCCA, Villa and Busoga United when the league was ended due to Covid19 pandemic.
