Express FC Graduates Four Eaglets To Senior Team

Express FC have promoted four players to the senior team as the club strengthen the squad for the 2020/21 season.

The players include Kevin Ssekimbega, Desmond Kanene, Sadat Mugenyi and Derrick Lubega Mulumba.

Mugenyi is a goalkeeper who will be the understudy of already established Mathias Muwanga and other newly recruited Crispus Kusiima and Denis Otim.

Lubega is an attacker who can play on either winger.

Right back Kevin Ssekimbega has had spells with the Uganda Cubs and will boost the club’s defence while Kanene Captain was the Express U19 captain.

Kanene has had cameos with the senior team but he is expected to become a permanent fixture.

While appearing on Capital FC, Express FC CEO Isaac Mwesigwa said that the club is focusing on the future.

“We are putting more emphasis on the youth so you will at one time see like two youngsters on the pitch,” Mwesigwa said.

“We have graduated youngsters and they will learn from the Lwesibawas and Mahads.”

This season, Express FC have unveiled nine signings including Mustafa Kiragga, Isaac Nsengiyunva, Mahad Kakooza, Abel Eturude and Baker Sakah among others.

Mwesigwa says that Express is recruiting a blend of young and old as they seek to build a side that will compete for the next three years.
