Andrew Kawooya Saga: Father Refutes Vipers Claims

Andrew Kawooya’s father has refuted claims that he signed a contract on his son’s behalf that ties him to Vipers.

This, comes after Vipers accused KCCA FC of unveiling a contracted player with the Kitende-based club.

Vipers’ Director Haruna Kyobe recently told The-SportsNation that there is proof that KCCA FC’s new signing has a minor’s contract with their club.

Kawooya, is a 17-year old Form Five student at St Mary’s SS Kitende.

“The truth is that I sent my son at Kitende (St Mary’s SS) to study and that is where he has been studying from,” said Henry Kasule, Kawooya’s Dad, during a phone interview on Bukedde FM.

“He has been playing football but at school level which I have no problem with because its part of the school program but not for Vipers.

“But at the beginning of this month, I got in touch with KCCA officials who showed interest in the services of my son, we reached an agreement and signed for the boy to join KCCA FC.

“I have also heard the rumours claiming that I signed a contract with Vipers, the agreement we have is for the boy to study at Kitende (St Mary’s SS) after when he left Dynamic SS. We never agreed anywhere that the boy should join Vipers.”

“So, what I know is that he is a student of St Mary’s SS Kitende and he plays for the school team.”

It is understood that Vipers are willing to do everything in their own means to see that they retain Kawooya, who featured for their Junior team in the FUFA Junior’s League.

The Club is set to petition FUFA over the matter.

Kawooya adds that he wants the best for his son, and asked the two clubs to sit down and agree over the boy’s future.

“I want the best for my son, I want him to have a breakthrough and achieve the best.

“They should both sit down and agree, Kawooya is a young boy who we all want to see prosper. His talent may help the nation, so we should look for what should be the best for him.”
