Former KCCA and Proline midfielder has explained on his decision to join UPL newcomers UPDF FC in the ongoing transfer Window.
Wammanah, last month, ended his spell with Proline FC to seal a loan deal with UPDF FC.
The midfielder says that he was enticed with a good offer and playing time among others.
“It was a very hard decision to leave Proline because I had good memories at the club – It had become part of my life, it was like a family to me,” Wammanah disclosed to The-SportsNation.
“This made it so hard for me deciding to leave the club because It gave had given me joy, confidence and trust from the coaches, fellow players and the Executive of the team.”
Wammanah was linked to a number of clubs before signing with the Bombo-based team.
Wammanah explained:
“First of all I chose UPDF because of their code of conduct as far as a professional club – The way they do things technically on and off the pitch, they have all the qualities of a top club.”
“Secondly, I thought of continuing to improve on my game and at UPDF I was assured of more playing time which is more important as far as a player’s development is concerned.
“Lastly, they tabled a good offer which favours me as a player.”
Wammanah is one of the many new signings at the club, including former Proline FC teammate Sam Kintu.
He joined KCCA FC from St Julian SS Gayaza in 2016 before his spell under coach Mike Mutebi failed to take off.
“What I can say is that KCCA is a big team and in order to stay there, you have to give all you can,” he stated. “I can’t say this or that was wrong, the challenge I faced was playing time is all that I can tell you because I was just a new entrant and I really missed a chance to get a regular starting place in the team “
During his stint at Proline, he guided the side to Uganda Cup triumph.
At UPDF FC, he has promised to work hard towards the club’s set targets.
“Firstly, I am gonna work so hard so that the team stays in the league which is one of the targets of UPDF FC.
“I want to have a good season, make an impact on the field of play and I am optimistic that I will work so hard with the help of the technical staff so that I earn a national team call up. I am going to play for the badge.”
