Diamond League: Winnie Nanyondo Braced For Doha

Winnie Nanyondo has been listed for the final showdown of the 2020 Wanda Diamond League this Friday at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar.

Nanyondo will take part in the Women’s 800m.

The middle distance runner returns in Doha after a year where she finished fourth last year at the same venue in the World Championship, a and she will be hoping for better fortunes this time round.

She finished ninth recently in the 1500m at the Golden Spike’s Continental tour in Ostrava, a race won by Kenyan Faith Kipyegon who has also confirmed entry for the 800m this Friday.

Kipyegon, the Olympic champion, will be going for her first 800m in the last five years but her recent exploits in longer distances (1500m and 1000m) makes her the pre-race favourite.

Nanyondo, who won bronze at the 2014 Commonwealth in the 800m in Glasgow, also finished eighth in 1000m in Monaco this year.
