Uganda’s long distance runner is braced for the Valencia Half Marathon Elite Edition set for December 6, 2020.
The runner has been listed in the start list for an event that will be held without overlapping on the course with the full marathon on the same day.
Kiplimo will be going head to head with Kenyan favourite Rhonex Kipruto who holds the 10k World Record.
Possibly, the event in December will be Kiplimo’s second appearance at a half marathon event – He will have made his debut at the World Athletics Championship in Gdynia on October 17 where he is part of Team Uganda.
For the Valencia event, Stephen Kiprop, Bedan Karoki, Bernard Ngeno, Geoffrey Koech are some of the athletes on the start list.
“We have worked hard in recent months to put together two lists that include the highest-level elite athletes, to break our own records and get as close as possible to the world records for the two distances,” Marc Roig, International Elite Coach for the Valencia Marathon and Half Marathon is quoted on the official website.
“Along with these names, there are others to be confirmed that will, without a doubt, make Valencia the biggest race of 2020.”
Kiplimo will be banking on his recent exploits in the 5000m and 3000m – In the latter, he beat Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigsten in the Diamond League held in Rome, Italy.
Did You Know? Kiplimo is the 2017 IAAF World Cross Country Junior champion.
