Uganda Cranes striker Emmanuel Okwi has returned to Egyptian club Al Ittihad, it’s official.
The forward had left Egypt after the spread of Coronavirus but remained stuck in Uganda due to the suspension of air traffic for a large period due to the Corona crisis, as well as the lack of direct flights from Uganda to Egypt.
Okwi had been linked to a return to Simba with reports claiming that the player had terminated his Ittihad contract over unpaid arrears.
According to the Club website, Okwi will conduct a Covid19 test during the next few hours.
The club added: “After the opening of the airport in Uganda, the player is a real addition to the football team because of its distinctive goals and capabilities.”
He was received by club official (Football Director) Major General Abdel Jalil at Cairo Airport.
Okwi has thanked the club’s board of directors headed by Professor Muhammad Mesilhi for the great efforts that were made during the last period in order to help him return again.
Ittihad is currently eighth with 39 points from 30 games.
