Ivory Coast held Belgium to a 1-1 draw in an international friendly played on Thursday at King Baudouin Stadium.

Michy Batshuayi saw his opener canceled by a late Frank Kessie penalty as Belgium’s run of 12 consecutive wins came to an end.

Batshuayi scored from close range, after goakeeper Gbohouo had spilled the initial shot, to give the hosts the lead in the 53rd minute after a goalless first half.

Ivory Coast remained in character and kept on pushing Belgium who rested their first team squad.

With four minutes to fulltime, the visitors were handed lifeline when Wilfred Zaha was brought down in the area by Sebastian Bornauw for the referee to award a penalty.

Kessie calmly slotted in an equaliser for the Elephants to deny Robert Martinez’s side.

Next for Ivory Coast is another friendly clash with Japan in Holland on Tuesday.

Ivory Coast Starting XI – Gbohouo, Bailly, Traore, Diomande, Aurier, Kessie, Die, Cornet, Pepe, Gradel and Zaha.
