Uganda Premier League side Busoga United FC has moved to Kakindu Stadium ahead of the 2020/21 season.
The development sees the club leave the Mighty Arena, a stadium located inside Jinja SS, where they hosted games last season.
It remains to be known whether this is one of the steps the club has taken to end their affiliation with the Schools.
“We are so proud to be associated with Jinja SS and hugely indebted to the new school management and Board of governors for the exorbitant contribution being offered to the club, we are so much obliged,” reads a statement in part, from the club.
“This decision was made due to unavoidable circumstances resultant of the outbreak of Covid19 pandemic which led to a premature termination of the 2019/20 season and it’s persistence is responsible for the unprecedented delay to the start of 2019/20 season.
The club chairperson, Hope Diana Nyago, ended her role as the Headmistress of Jinja SS earlier this year.
Busoga United, formerly Kirinya Jinja SS, finished fourth last season, their best placement since joining the Uganda Premier League.
The club returns to Kakindu having left the stadium in 2017 to play at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe. They have also hosted at FUFA Technical centre in Njeru since.
“To the management of Kakindu Stadium, we are honoured to have received positive response on such a short notice. We anticipate a very cordial relationship with you relationship with you throughout our seasonal (one year) stay at your facility,” Busoga United has added.
The club has said that the decision was reached after “making in-depth analysis and undertaking numerous consultative meetings.”
