Silverbacks’ Brandon Davies Guides Barcelona Past Panathinaikos

Centre Brandon Davies scored 20 points and five rebounds as Barcelona edged Panathinaikos in the Euro league on Thursday night.

Barcelona needed overtime to win 97-89, after playing without some players like Nikola Mitrotic and Victor Claver among others.

It was Davies’ six points in the overtime that saw Barcelona pull away for their third victory from four games.

“It was a hard-fought battle. In the first half, we didn’t do things too well, but we grinded it out and got that win for our injured players,” Davis told Eurohoops.

“We just have to keep grinding. There were some tough times in that game, but we stuck together in those moments and came out with the win. That’s what’s important.”

Brandon, American born, played for Uganda at the 2019 FIBA Zone Five in Lugogo but the side missed a ticket to AFROCAN at the expense of Kenya and Egypt.

He is not part of the Silverbacks team for Acrobasket Qualifiers set in Egypt next month possibly due to a busy schedule with his club but he is expected to represent Uganda thereafter.

The graduate of Brigham Young joined Barcelona in July 2019 and had earlier had spells with BYU Cougars, Philadelphia Sixers (NBA), Lithuanian side Zalgiris Kaunas among others.
