Uganda Premier League side Wakiso Giants FC have stated that four players ‘could’ miss the start of the 2020/21 season due to ‘long term’ injuries.
The said players are Tom Masiko, Hakim Ssenkumba, Ayub Kisaliita and goalkeeper George William Katende.
The Uganda Premier League is set to kickoff in November, with no actual date set.
Wakiso, per the statement on their website, says that players were discovered with ‘bad injuries’ during the team’s pre-season medical tests.
“According to the medical reports, Kisaliita has grade II tear of the medial meniscus and grade III tear of the lateral meniscus, Masiko has a partial tear of the right ankle ligament foot while Katende has Grade III of tear of the medial meniscus as well as partial tear of the collateral ligament.
The MRI scan on Ssenkumba revealed a grade II tear of the medial and lateral meniscus.
New coach Douglas Bamweyana hopes that the player will not be out for too long and surgery may be organised if need be.
The club has added that Karim Ndugwa will miss some training sessions as he is still nursing a cartilage injury on the right ankle foot.
Wakiso Giants finished 10th with 30 points when the league was ended due to Covid19 pandemic.
