Royal Varsani Bucks got off to a perfect start with two victories in the Cricket Elite League that started off on Sunday at the Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala.

Simon Ssesazi will take much of the credit with impressive performances in both games.

He scored 36 runs off 38 balls as Bucks chased down Mamba Challengers’ 107/9 in the opening game.

Frank Akankwasa’s 44 runs off 24 balls had given the Mambas a big lift but four wickets from Siraje Nsubuga handed the Bucks a good chance.

Needing two runs in the last ball, Pius Oluka hit Cosmas Kyewuta’s delivery for six to seal the victory in a nail-biting finish.

In the second game, Aziz Damani Scorpions set 131/5 courtesy of Wassim Butt’s undefeated 88.

Due to bad light, the Match was reduced to 13 overs with Bucks targeting 78 runs after Duckworth and Lewis Stern Method.

Ssesazi (39/32) and Jonathan Ssebanja (17/15) helped the Bucks cross the line despite slow start from openers Arnold Otwani and Robinson Obuya.
