Football body in the country, FUFA, has confirmed the reception of the Women football grant.
The Covid19 funds of USD 500,000 was approved in August by FIFA Council to all member associations including FUFA.
Then, FUFA CEO Edgar Watson revealed that they were in the process of applying for the grant.
FUFA has stated that the expenditure will be done towards achieving the four
major goals of their ‘Take Flight’ project in the 2- year Strategy that include the following:-
- Increasing Women involved in football
- To improve the Women Football League and National Teams
- Increase number of Girls playing football
- To create revenue generation streams for Women football
Of the 1.87bn, the Federation has also approved a total amount of 735,000,000/= to be paid directly to the Women football clubs on their
official Bank Accounts starting Friday 30th October 2020.
Each club playing in FUFA Women Super League will receive Sh40m.
Clubs in Elite League, the second tier, will each pocket sh15m.
