FUFA Inspects St Mary’s Stadium Ahead of Cranes Vs South Sudan

FUFA has done an inspection on St Mary’s stadium ahead of the forthcoming encounter between Uganda Cranes and South Sudan next month.

The stadium, located in Kitende along Entebbe Road, is home for Uganda Premier League side Vipers Sports Club.

The inspection was done on Friday by FUFA Safety and Security team led by Hajji Abdul Lukooya and Humphrey Mandu who are both CAF trained Security Officers.

FUFA opted for St Mary’s stadium after Mandela National Stadium Namboole was temporarily turned into a Covid19 medical centre.

Kitende was given clearance to host international matches after CAF inspectors Emmanuel Dasoberi and Daniel Amokachi visited and certified it earlier this year.

The stadium will host Uganda Cranes game with South Sudan on November 12, 2020.

This, will be the second time the National team host at Kitende after the side faced Rwanda in the 2018 CHAN Qualifiers.

Kitende has also hosted Club international matches – They have hosted Platinum Stars (South Africa), El Merriekh (Sudan), Constantine (Algeria) and CS Sfaxien (Tunisia).

Uganda Cranes top group B with four points after a draw away to Burkina Faso and a home win at Namboole against Cameroon.

The second leg between Uganda Cranes and South Sudan will be played in Kenya on November 16, 2020.
