Elite T20 League: Scorpions Crowned Champions

Aziz Damani Scorpions were crowned champions of the inaugural Elite T20 league on Saturday at Lugogo Cricket Oval.

The final against Royal Varsani Bucks was not played due to rain and a soaked pitch and the organisers decided to declare a winner.

Going into Saturday’s final, Scorpions led the three-team log with 10 points, two points above Bucks while Mamba Challengers sat bottom with six.

The tourney, organised by Uganda Cricket Association, kicked off last Sunday under strict observance of Covid19 regulations on Sports resumption.

The Scorpions took home Sh3m as prize money and each member of the team bagged a mobile phone courtesy of Hisense.

Scorpion’s Wasim Butt was named MVP and Best Batsman after scoring a total of 212 runs, averaging 53 from six games.

Bucks duo Siraje Nsubuga and Jonathan Kizza were named best bowler and fielder respectively.

Nsubuga picked nine wickets from six innings.
