Left back cum winger Jordan Obita has signed for England League one side Oxford United.
Obita, born in England by Ugandan parents, joins Oxford after he was released by Reading FC.
He has joined on a one-year deal until the end of the season, with an option for a further year.
The 26-year old has already represented England youth teams including the Under-20 and Under-21 teams.
He is a graduate of Reading Youth Academy, joining the side at the age of eight before signing for the senior team in 2010 where he played 163 games, scoring five goals.
He had loan spells with Barnet, Gillingham, Portsmouth and Oldham Athletic.
At Reading, playing at left back, he was named the best player for the club at the end of the 2013/14 season.
He will be hoping to rescued relegation-bound Oxford who sit 21st on the table with nine points from as many games.
“First of all I want to thank the Gaffer for giving me this opportunity,” Obita is quoted by Oxford United FC.
“I’ve been impressed by everything I have seen over the last few weeks and can’t wait to get started. I’ve worked hard not just over the last couple of weeks but all summer as well.
“This is a good squad of players and all I want to do now is keep training as hard as I can and be part of a side that goes on a run and starts getting to where we know we should be in the table.”
Oxford United, is Obita’s boyhood club. He was born in Oxford and had trials at the club at a tender age before joining the Reading Academy.
