Murushid Juuko Switches Focus After AFCON Snub

Defender Murushid Juuko has adjusted his targets after missing out on Uganda Cranes final team to face South Sudan in the 2021 AFCON Qualifiers.

Juuko who recently signed for Express, was among the UPL players who never made the cut as coach Jonathan McKinstry named seven players for the South Sudan game.

“Firstly, I am grateful for the gaffer for the call up, He makes the final call and I respect that” Juuko told Express FC.

“I know there are more games to come and I will be considered because I’m really working extra towards that happening.

The former Bunamwaya (now Vipers) centre back has been a mainstay for the Uganda Cranes since making his senior team debut in July 2014 against Seychelles.

He represented Uganda at the two AFCONs – 2017 in Gabon and 2019 in Egypt.

After ending his stint with Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca, Murushid returned home to join UPL side Express FC, hence eligible for the forthcoming CHAN in Cameroon next year.

“My target is to play CHAN for now, although it will depend on my teammates performance in the league,” Juuko added.
