Fortebet Avails Safe Measures As Branches Reopen

Number one betting company in Uganda, Fortebet, has put in place necessary measures to fight the spread of Covid19 as the company resume operations.

Fortebet received greenlight to reopen all their branches countrywide after Government gave greenlight to Casinos and Gaming outlets to reopen.

The Betting outlets have been closed since March due to a ban on public gatherings, but Government has reversed the decision, effective last Saturday (November 14).

“We are very pleased and excited to reopen,” John Nanyumba, a media manager at Fortebet told The-SportsNation.

“We have been out of normal business for nine months, not working has had so many negative implications because most of our staff were just home seated.

“Our objectives for the year were all put on hold, but the reopening comes as a big plus.”

Nanyumba added that the company suffered losses estimated in billions.

He explained the plans to operate while working in line with Ministry of Healthy guidelines.

“We have put in place many measures to observe SOPs,” Nanyumba added.

“We have moved to regulate the number of people entering into the houses to bet, this, we have used guards at the entrances – They restrict the number of people so that they don’t exceed the required number at any moment in time.

At the entrance of the Fortebet houses, every punter is required to have a Mask, and its a must to sanitize before being subjected to a measuring gun.

“We have many computers the bettors to use, but we have shut down some of them so that we can create space (social distance),” he adds.

“The attendants at the counter have also followed the social distance procedures.

“We shut down all the televisions inside the houses so that fans dont flock in large numbers to watch the games, until the situations return to normal.”

Fortebet has been operating in lockdown thanks to their online portal where punters put their stakes on their bets via Phones or Computers.

“Even before the pandemic, we have been encouraging our customers to bet online, its the way to go because the world has gone digital.

“However, we have to cater for our friends who are not digital-friendly, and other people prefer to have their receipts in hard copies.”
