Uganda Golf Union’s premier annual event, the Uganda Golf Open Championship, has been launched on Thursday at Golf House.
Delayed due to Covid19 pandemic, the tourney will tee off on November 25 at the par-72 Golf Club in Kitante.
Tusker Malt Lager (Uganda Breweries Limited) has boosted the much anticipated event with Sh100m in a press launch today.
“We are delighted and honoured to be the title sponsors of this event, you all know that we are the biggest sponsors of Golf in Uganda, and its fitting to sponsor this biggest event as well,” said Uganda Breweries Representative Annet Nakiyaga.
“We also commend Golf Union for bringing on board other sponsors on board so that we can make this a success, we want to deliver a good tourney this year.”
Uganda Golf Union President Moses Matsiko lauded UBL among other partners on board including NBS (Next media).
“It has been a difficult year due to Covid19 but to see that we are going to hold an open, its something exciting and we must thank our partners on board,” Matsiko told the Press.
“This very event (2019) has been voted by USPA as the best organised, so we hope to go better in this edition as well.”
Next Media will provide updates and air some events live, according to the company’s head of communications and Marketing Desire Mugumisa.

The ladies event is slated for November 26 to 28, followed by the Men’s amateur event (Gross and Subsidiary) from December 1.
The tourney has attracted several professionals from outside the country.
