Aheebwa received from Keziron Kizito, before volleying home past Benson Wagina in the 21st minute.

The former Mbarara Striker who scored eight goals last season, later beat his man to send a low cut back for Sam Ssenyonjo to tap home at close range six minutes later.

KCCA FC put the foot off the pedal in the second stanza and were made to work for the result when Joseph Akandwanaho brought one back woth a header off Simon Ssemayange for the hosts in the 83rd minute.

Bright Stars will rue a late missed chance from Joseph Janjali who had a chance to level matters with Charles Lukwago beaten, but fumbled with his opportunity.

KCCA FC Off To Perfect Start

Having lost last year’s title by four points to Vipers in a league that was ended prematurely, KCCA FC are expected to compete strongly this season.

Coach Mike Mutebi named five new signings in the starting team – Samson Kigozi, Ashraf Mugume, Stephen Mazengo, Denis Iguma and Brian Aheebwa – against a team they lost five points to last season.

Italian Mazengo was everywhere, and almost caused a penalty when he handled the ball in his area.

KCCA looked the better side in the first half thanks partly to Keziron’s impressive display.

Action at Kavumba between KCCA and Bright Stars

Keziron had an effort wide, Mazengo shot weakly on goal while Musana’s effort was saved by Wagina as KCCA knocked on the door.

KCCA were rarely troubled in the first half beside Ronald Sempala’s effort which went over the bar and Joseph Janjali’s freekick which forced Charles Lukwago into a reflex save.

Charles Lwanga, Filbert Obenchan and Juma Balinya came off the bench but KCCA failed to put the game away to Bright Stars reach.

The introduction of Augustine Kacancu changed tides for Bright Stars as the workaholic midfielder pushed his side in forward.

Ronald Ngoobi and Ssempala both headed over as Bright Stars pushed for a late equaliser but in vain.
