Kiplimo Braced For Valencia Half Marathon

Uganda’s long distance sensational, Jacob Kiplimo is set to compete in Valencia Half Marathon this weekend (December 6) with his major goal of running faster time than his previous World performance.

Kiplimo in October won the World Half Marathon clocking 58:49 in Gdynia, Poland.

However, athletics pundits predict new World and Course Records from the Valencia race thanks to the battle expected between Ugandan Kiplimo and Kenyan Rhonex Kipruto, alongside a field of other world’s best distance runners.

The athletics analysts expect the clash to bring down the half marathon to 57 minutes, which is a tall order.

The Course Record in Valencia stands at 58:18 which is shy of the 58:01 World Record set by Kenyan Geoffrey Kamworor in 2019.

Ten other runners with sub-60-minute PBs are in contention including 2019 Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon champion Stephen Kiprop (KEN), 2016 World Half Marathon silver medallist Bedan Karoki (KEN), 2019 Valencia Half runner-up Bernard Ngeno (KEN), European record-holder Julien Wanders (SUI) and African cross-country champion Alfred Barkach (KEN).

In recent years Valencia has built a reputation as a city that produces fast times, track and road World Records.
