Vipers Bundles Out Of CAF Champions League

Sunday, December 6
*Vipers 0-1 Al Hilal

Vipers hopes of making it to the next round of the qualifiers of the CAF Champions League have been cut short after a defeat by sudan’s Al Hilal.

Al Hilal have beaten Vipers 1-0 on Sunday, with Al Dhahi scoring the only goal of the game in the 61st minute.

The result sees Vipers storm out on a 2-0 aggregate loss having lost 1-0 at Kitende last week.

The sudan’s team will now face the winner between Asante Kotoko and Nouadhibou of Mauritania.

Vipers came into this game with six players missing from previous squard due to Covid19.

However, the Venoms dominated early proceedings but failed to find the back of the net.

Striker Mzee Dan Sserunkuma had a chance to put the team in the lead but was denied by the goalkeeper after a fantastic cross from new signing David Bagoole.

The visitors got another brilliant opportunity but Jamil Kalisa was denied by the shot stopper.

The Venoms had a penalty appeal denied when Mzee Dan was fouled in the box.

In the second stanza, striker Caesar Manzoki missed a golden opportunity before he was replaced by Najib Yiga. Joseph Dhata also came on for Sserunkuma as Kajoba searched for an opening.

However, the hosts robed Vipers of possession and punished them with a strike in the 61st minute to all but put the game to bed.

Vipers will now shift attention to Uganda Premier League.

XI – Fabien Mutombora, Bashir Asiku, Aziz Kayondo, Rashid Toha, Siraje Sentamu, Jamil Kalisa, David Bagoole, Ibrahim Orit, Mzee Dan Sserunkuma, Dissan Galiwango, Cesar Manzoki
