Fahad Bayo targets more goals after opening his account for FC Ashdod in a league game on Monday.
Bayo scored the opener as Ashdod beat defending champions and record winners Maccabi Tel Aviv 3-2.
Ashdod benefited from Maccabi’s blunder before Hamoudi Knaan set Bayo who slotted past goalkeeper Daniel Tenenbaum in the 20th minute.
“Another massive three points for us! I’m so happy to be on the score sheet against a very good team. Thanks Allah. I’m looking forward to more great performances,” Bayo said.
The goal came at Bayo’s eighth league appearance for the club.
Experienced Spanish Defender Luis Hernandez and Yonatan Cohen put the visitors in control but Ashdod fought back with goals from Shlomi Azulay and Sagiv Yehezkel to win the encounter.
Uganda Cranes defender Timothy Awany played 90 minutes as Ashdod handed Maccabi their second loss of the season to drop to seventh on the log.
Ashdod FC climbs to third place with 15 points from nine games and will face Kizito Luwagga’s Hapoel Kfar Saba on December 12.
