Ben Ocen scored a brace as Police FC beat MYDA FC 3-1 in the hosts’ first league game since promotion from FUFA Big League.

Ocen scored the opener in the first minute of the game before Eric Ssenjobe doubled the lead in the 25th minute.

Ibrahim Nsimbe headed in at the 39th minute before halftime, but a 70th minute strike from Ocen put the game from MYDA’s reach.

“We thank the Lord for the win, I commend my players for the show they have put, and the effort. It was a good game and result for our side,” said Police coach Abdallah Mubiru.

“The win gives us confidence and hope about what we are planning to build. We have some missing players but we will not cry over that.”

Ocen scored 12 goals last season, one below top scorer Steven Mukwala, when the league was ended due to Covid19. He will be going for the boot again this season.

Police have collected four points from two games after drawing goalless with Wakiso Giants in their league opener.

MYDA have zero points after having their league opener against Vipers postponed.
