After just two match-days, the StarTimes Uganda Premier League has already gotten a spark, even without fans.

Social media is buzzing with banter as goals continue to rain.

Too early to call, but the table has somehow taken shape, and provided an insight of what to come in the next games.

How will drama unfold in Match-day three? Here is what to watch out for;

Aheebwa Points Guns At Former Masters

KCCA FC striker Brian Aheebwa will be facing his former pay masters when Mbarara City FC take a trip to Lugogo on Friday.

Aheebwa is Mbarara’s all time leading goalscorer and his goals lifted the Ankole Lions to top flight in 2017.

He left the club for greener pastures before 2020/21 season kickoff, and signed for KCCA FC where he has scored five goals from two opening games including four against Onduparaka in a 8-0 maul.

Will he score? Okay, let me rephrase it – Will Aheebwa celebrate scoring against a team which moulded him?

What Do Vipers Have In Store?

The defending champions take centre stage.

Vipers have had their two opening games against MYDA FC and Express FC postponed due to their CAF Champions League schedule.

The club have since been eliminated by Al Hilal from the Continent and have switched focus to depending the league they won after the season was canceled due to Covid19 with five games on the card.

Vipers are expected to be shorthanded after key players, including captain Halid Lwaliwa tested positive for Covid19.

The club face Wakiso on Saturday, and with KCCA in action on Friday, they may start the season nine points behind their rival.

Are UPDF That Good?

Brian Kalumba of UPDF

Two wins from as many, eight goals including a quartet from Brian Kalumba. Second on the table. A start not any UPDF fan predicted.

UPDF will be facing their biggest task of the season so far when they host a solid BUL FC at Bombo Barracks.

They put three past Busoga United before silencing Kitara FC with a 5-1 victory, but can they keep the fire burning?

The side plot of this encounter is coach Kefa Kisala will be facing BUL, a side he has coached on two different occasions.

Can Onduparaka Respond?

Onduparaka FC will return to action on Friday just days after they were torn apart by KCCA FC! 8-0, sorry to be reminded Caterpillars.

In 2017, after falling 7-0 to KCCA, they then responded with a 2-0 victory against Police three days later.

Onduparaka FC will be in Tororo to face a wounded MYDA who lost 3-1 to Police, and a positive result will reshape the club’s targets once again.

This promises to be a hard season for the Caterpillars, with financial struggles inherited from last season, a new head coach and many new signings.

Will It Rain Goals Again?

Police scored thrice on the road

Match-day two produced 29 goals from the seven games played between Tuesday and Wednesday, with each game averaging four goals!

Notably, four hat-tricks – Brian Aheebwa (4), Brian Kalumba (4), Sam Ssenyonjo (3) and Joseph Ssemujju (3) – were registered.

Will the trend continue in Match-day three, or it was just a one-off?

There are interesting ties as Villa will be seeking to take revenge against URA FC at Ndejje where they lost 2-0 last season. Busoga United are yet to collect a single point and will be hoping to get their season on track when they host Kyetume, Express will be playing their first home game while Police continue their hunt on the road when they visit Kitara.
