Uganda Cranes Striker Emmanuel Okwi has tested positive for Covid19, it has been confirmed.
The striker will miss Al-Ittihad encounter with Pyramids FC on Saturday as the 2020/21 Egyptian Premier League gets underway.
Al-Ittihad has revealed the developments: “The return of Ugandan striker Emmanuel Okwi has been postponed after he was infected with the Coronavirus.”
“Results of the Corona virus detection test conducted by Ugandan professional player Emmanuel Okwi of Al Ittihad Club of Alexandria before leaving his country showed that the player was infected and tested positive.
“And the player had taken this followed test in preparation for returning again and joining the ranks of the team for training and matches, but the test positive postponed his return to a later unit.
“My heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery to our Ugandan striker Emmanuel.”
Okwi had left Egypt this year after the spread of Coronavirus but remained stuck in Uganda due to the suspension of air traffic for a large period due to the Corona crisis, as well as the lack of direct flights from Uganda to Egypt.
In October, the striker returned to Egypt.
