Eight goals in a single UPL fixture is a rare occasion, save the KCCA Onduparaka one sided affair.

Last season when these sides met at the Mighty Arena, Bobosi Byaruhanga strike in the 90th minute was the only goal.

It took 18 minutes this time at Njeru for Vipers to get in front, with Geoffrey Wasswa curling home a freekick after a foul by Shafic Kakeeto to set the tone for what was to come.

Whatever Vipers could do, Busoga United tried to answer back. And they leveled in the 26th minute when George Kasonko bundled in at close range after goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora had spilled Jerome Kirya initial strike in the 24th minute.

Their equaliser was short-lived however when Karisa struck home to restore the advantage after Kakeeto failed to win an aerial duel with Mzee Dan Sserunkuma for the winger to shoot in from a loose ball.

There were about three penalty appeals that were never given, including a handball by Aziz Kayondo and when Mzee Dan was tripped by goalkeeper Ali Kimera.

In the second half, Shaban Muhammed passed into Karim Watambala’s way for the little youngster to score from a ferocious strike.

Mugulusi, after beating David Bagoole into the area, squeezed in a low whip into a tight angle to revive Busoga hopes.

But Vipers were not done yet, and so was Busoga.

Mucureezi later scored two goals to have Vipers some cushion, one with a free-kick after a foul on Kariisa and doubled his tally later when unleashed a shot after good work from fellow substitute Dissan Galiwango down the left flank

Mucureezi almost grabbed an hat-trick but headed out a Dissan cross.

Ssekulima was at the end of a low cross at the far end to slide home after he made an explosive run into the box to make it 3-5 in the closing stages.
